The World in a "Bad Romance" with Lady GaGa.

Bad Romance "A Icon of The Digital Era"
Lady Gaga is breaking records. If your last job, Telephone, which he recorded with his girlfriend Beyoncé, swept the Internet, the video clip of one of his previous successes has the honor of being the most watched video in the history of YouTube. With nearly 180 million visits, the Bad Romance clip, blending extravagant choreography wearing coral and a touch sinister, has achieved first place in the ranking of most viewed. The second most watched video is one entitled ‘Charlie bite my finger’ (‘Charlie bit me finger’), a recording home where he sees two playing and how the lesser of two bites her finger at the other , thus ending in laughter tears from the two children. These data are made public to mark the fifth anniversary of the site, which opened on April 23, 2005 with a video of one of its founders, Jawed Karim, during a visit to the zoo. 5 Reasons Why Lady Gaga's Bad Romance Became YouTube's Biggest Video
1. Lady Gaga is an established pop star.
While some bands like OK Go enjoy a vibrant internet fanbase, only a pop sensation who had previously conquered radio could have achieved such overwhelming popularity on YouTube.
2. The music sounds strange
In terms of what's played on TV or radio, at least. While Robyn, Peaches, Roisin Murphey, Bjork and others have been crafting unpredictable electro pop for over a decade, Lady Gaga is the first to reach an exclusively radio/MTV-listening audience with artsy dance music. Call it good timing.
3. It's unadulterated blog fodder
'Bad Romance' got people talking in a way that I've never witnessed. Every armchair psycho-therapist wrote a thousand-word blog post about what this video means for society today, tossing off half-baked feminist theory and Madonna comparisons while trying to find meaning in the wacky imagery.
4. It's spectacle
Can you think of another music video that consistently delights the senses for so long? It inspired more people to create parody videos than ever before. It begs for repeated viewings. There are so many "Did you see that? What was that" moments in the video that we all watched it at least four or five times.
5. It's creepy
From her gnarled, twitching fingers to her anime eyeballs, the video is Nightmare Town from start to finish. Assuming most of Middle America has never seen the Cremaster Cycle, this unsettling art house imagery shocked most of its viewers. What is the next weirdest thing most people from Peoria have seen? Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' video?

Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” Becomes Most Viewed YouTube Video Of All Time
Lady Gaga is a YouTube phenom, her videos have received well over 1 billion views and now we’ve learned that her “Bad Romance” music video has surpassed “Charlie Bit My Finger” as the most viewed video on the popular video sharing website. “Bad Romance” has surpassed Charlie’s finger biting antics by over 400,000 views at last look, bringing it ever closer to the 180 million views mark. Just in case you haven’t managed to catch the video or if you’re too lazy to head over to YouTube we’ve attached the video for your viewing pleasure. It’s a whole lot of strange, then again so is Lady Gaga.

'Bad Romance' is most watched on YouTube
Lady GaGa's 'Bad Romance' video has been revealed as the most watched clip on YouTube ever. The promo, which sees the singer kidnapped by supermodels and sold to the Russian mafia, has amassed almost 179,000,000 views, only marginally ahead of film showing a baby biting another child's finger. The video was celebrated as the most-watched clip as part of YouTube's upcoming fifth birthday celebrations. The website began in April 23, 2005, when a clip was posted of YouTube founder Jawed Karim at the zoo. Source: Digital Spy

The music video, directed by Francis Lawrence and art-directed by the Haus of Gaga, has got loads of good critics.
The Wall Street Journal noted:
“Gaga seems to be one of the few pop stars these days who really understands spectacle, fashion, shock, choreography—all the things Madonna and Michael Jackson were masters of in the 1980s.”

Jennifer Cady from E! talked on the video:
“This music video really makes us appreciate everything Gaga actually brings to pop music. She’s exciting to watch, plain and simple. We need someone like Gaga to really bring it. To put actual thought and care into her product so that it feels alive.”

Ryan Tedder : "Nobody works harder than Lady Gaga"

OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder was asked by MTV News to clarify his statement about Lady Gaga’s health — turns out he never said that:

“I’ve had two or three people ask me about that, and I had friends who picked up People magazine last week or the week before, and they’re like, ‘You’re in People, someone asked you about Lady Gaga.’ I don’t even remember saying that. To be honest, I don’t even know that I did.”

He also said some nice words about Lady Gaga and described meeting her before she rose to fame in 2008:

“I’ve only met her once, but I had, like, a two-hour conversation with her nonstop the first time that I hung out with her, right before ‘Just Dance’ came out, and thought she was the coolest, smartest [person]. I was like, ‘God, she’s got her crap together.’ She was legit. “So I don’t know her, I don’t pretend like I know her, but the fact that I, for a moment, connected with her humanity, and I know how hard we work, and I know the schedule after ‘Apologize’ blew up… the longest stretch of time we were home in a row, for about 13 months, was two and a half days. And that can push you to a brink, where your job becomes who you are, and you end up reaching a breaking point, where all of a sudden you hate it, and you just want to quit. “Or you get sick — we pushed it so hard earlier this year, we were touring with Rob Thomas, and every single day was ’show, promo/press during the day, show that night,’ and I lost my voice and got swine flu. And the doctor was like, ‘Look, I’ve dealt with a lot of you artists. I’ve had Kanye in here, I’ve had R. Kelly, I’ve had all these different people come through my office. …If you don’t slow down, your body will shut you down completely.’ And so, if you’re collapsing onstage, I don’t care how much money [you have] or how much you love your ‘Little Monsters,’ you gotta take care of your health first. For anybody. For us. I mean, we’ve had to slow down. “My hat goes off to her. Nobody works harder than Lady Gaga. Nobody. She is unbelievable. I don’t know how she sleeps, or when or if. But I know people who work with her, and they’re like, ‘She is the most dedicated, committed, hardworking person around.’” Source: MTV News

LADY GAGA: “I’M CELIBATE AND PROUD OF IT”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lady Gaga has revealed that she is celibate while recently discussing her role in Mac’s Viva Glam campaign, which supports global HIV and AIDS projects, she told London’s Daily Mail she wants her fans not to have sex, either. “I can’t believe I’m saying this – don’t have sex. I’m single right now and I’ve chosen to be single because I don’t have the time to get to know anybody,” she said. “So it’s OK not to have sex, it’s OK to get to know people. I’m celibate, celibacy’s fine.” She said her celibacy is something she wants “to celebrate” with her fans. “It’s OK to be whomever it is that you want to be,” she said. “You don’t have to have sex to feel good about yourself, and if you’re not ready, don’t do it. And if you are ready, there are free condoms given away at my concerts when you’re leaving!” The important thing, she said, is for her fans to stay true to themselves. “I remember the cool girls when I was growing up. Everyone started to have sex,” she said. “But it’s not really cool any more to have sex all the time. It’s cooler to be strong and independent.’ She added that she is proud to be a role model. “When you’re in the public eye, you’re a role model whether you want to be or not. And I want to be,” she said. “I’m not one of those self-obsessed artists who don’t care about their fans. It’s not just about the music.” She said she has a “responsibility” to her fans and that “and you’re an idiot if you don’t know that.” Source: US Magazine
