In a phone interview with Ryan Seacrest on Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM on Friday morning (February 5), Lady Gaga talked about the next phase of her Monster Ball Tour — which begins in England on February 18 and carries on through Ireland, Australia and New Zealand before concluding in Japan on April 18 — her dazzling performance with Elton John at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, and even Ozzy Osbourne.
Typically for Gaga, the show will be a completely different production from the one that recently concluded in the U.S. "It's a glam, drug-addict opera that's pretty amazing," she said excitedly. "It's still called Monster Ball, but it's more of a musical and less of a concert. It has a New York theme, it's a story, and the story is that me and my friends are in New York and we're going to the Monster Ball, and we get lost," and the adventure continues from there. "It's got a kind of 'Wizard of Oz' influence." The show's overriding theme, she said, is that "Everything will set you free and all the things you don't like about yourself won't matter anymore." She also spoke briefly about her show-opening performance with Elton John at the Grammys, noting that he loved the big green glasses he wore and the performance. "He was so excited," she said. "He was up for anything." Of course, Gaga also won two Grammys. "It was such a huge night for my fans and for me. I'll never forget it." While Gaga has garnered thousands and thousands of fans over the past year, she was shocked to learn who one of them is: Seacrest played back a quote about her from Ozzy Osbourne, who appeared on his show recently. "She's very clever, very interesting," Ozzy said. "She's wacky and I like the zaniness of that woman." Surprised, Gaga gushed, "Are you kidding? I'm the biggest Black Sabbath fan on Earth!" She even recalled her days as a go-go dancer on New York's Lower East Side and said that one of her showstoppers was performed to the band's classic song "Black Sabbath." Gaga concluded by saying that despite her hectic schedule in recent months, she can't wait to get on the road again. "I can't even sleep," she said. "I just wish I could go to sleep, wake up, and it was the opening night of the tour." MTVNews.com
